Weddington High School "Wake Up To Ag Day"

Weeks of preparation paid off for students when the Weddington High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) Chapter held "Wake Up to Ag Day" on April 24, 2012.  This event is held county wide at many public high schools.  Three local elementary schools Wesley Chapel, Weddington and Antioch attended this event at Weddington High School.   Seventy FFA members prepared presentations for the third graders.  The students were proud to have such a range of stations this year.  Of the 15 stations, 8 had various livestock and poultry including goats, cattle, horses, chickens and ducks.  Along with animals, the members were able to share their knowledge on agricultural mechanics, forestry, horticulture and veterinarian science.  The Weddington FFA, a leadership organization which focuses on key aspects of agriculture, set a major goal for Wake Up to Ag Day to educate and to spread agricultural awareness.  The Weddington FFA Chapter had a successful, rewarding day for both the third graders and the FFA.
